“From Mum of 4 to Empowered Woman: My Boudoir Photography Journey”
Losing Myself in Motherhood
For the last 15 years, since having my first child, my world has revolved around raising my four amazing boys. I poured everything into them, always putting their needs first, and somewhere along the way, I lost me.
Finding Myself Again
Over the last 18 months, I’ve slowly started to find myself again. I feel stronger, more confident, and finally sure of who I am. Fitness has been a huge part of that, I joined CrossFit, started competing, and now I’m honestly in the best shape of my life.
Facing My Boudoir Shoot Nerves
But here’s the thing… even when you feel confident, new adventures can still be nerve-wracking. When I first walked through Sarah’s door for my boudoir shoot, I was physically shaking with nerves. I didn’t need to be. Sarah and her incredible team of lovely ladies made me feel completely at ease the moment I arrived.
More Than Confidence — Empowerment
They say a boudoir session makes you feel confident, but when I saw my photos afterwards, it was so much more than that. I felt empowered. I felt beautiful. Sexy. Strong. Proud of the woman I’ve become.
Two Styles, Two Sides of Me
Of course, I didn’t just have some photos taken in my beloved workout gear. I went for the more sexy bedroom look as well, which I loved (and so did my husband!). Being able to mix the two styles, the strong sporty side of me and the softer more sensual side, really let me see all of who I am. For the first time in a long time, I felt like the “real me” was right there in front of me.
Wall Art to Celebrate My Journey
Because I had two completely different styles of boudoir, I knew one piece of wall art just wouldn’t be enough, I needed two! One to capture my strong, confident fitness side, and another to celebrate that softer, sexy side. Now, every time I see them, I’m reminded that I don’t have to be just one version of myself, I can be both.
A Reminder of Who I Am
The rest of my photos are in an album that sits proudly in my room, a constant reminder that yes, I’m a 37-year-old mum of four fabulous boys… but I’m also me.
And if there’s one thing this whole experience has taught me, it’s this: don’t be afraid to be the person you want to be.
